Monday, July 29, 2024: Let's go to the movies! And to a 10th Anniversary Gala on August 10th. Here are the invitations -- please put them on your calendars
From our dear friend Therese Mugganham
Dear Emmaus Friends,
It's been a long time since I've communicated with you all. I don't need to tell you how
horrendous and unspeakable things have been in Gaza/Palestine. Our weekly protests to end the war on Gaza have continued since the bombing began almost ten months ago. A beautiful caring community has developed among those who have been able to join us week after week. You may know that we have changed the time we meet because of the heat. It's now on Saturdays at Courthouse Square from 6:30-8. Join us if you can.
Also want to be sure that you know about the extraordinary film we will be showing on Monday, August 5th at 6:30 at Christ Church Methodist, 1717 Yulupa in Santa Rosa.
PLEASE CHECK ATTACHMENT BELOW for more details. The filmmakers and some of the people in the film will be present for a discussion after the film. Please tell your friends and come to show your support. The film is a beautifully made documentary released recently. Hope to see you there.
Blessings, and FREE PALESTINE!

Emmaus friends,
VIDAS (Vital Immigrant Defense Advocacy & Services) is holding our 10th Anniversary Gala on August 10. VIDAS not only does great work in our community, but took a bold stance against Israeli genocide/apartheid. Hoping you/yours might be able to come celebrate a night of social justice with us!
Flyer is attached, and tickets can be found at www.vidaslegal.org.
Thanks for considering!

We will be screening the film 'Bad Faith' together on August 12th.
BAD FAITH reveals how Christian Nationalist leaders have spread fear and anger for decades, distorting political issues into Biblical battles between good and evil. Financed through the secretive Council for National Policy, Christian Nationalists have succeeded in taking over the Republican Party, turning it into a powerful weapon to demolish democracy from within. Discover the origins of this organized grasp for power and the grassroots coalition of secular and interfaith leaders bravely confronting the unholy forces threatening democracy.
While this film is focused on Christian Nationalism, it has more to say about the roots of America's systemic racism. We'll have a time for folks to reflect together after. I'm confirming that date with my administrator, but I think it's a go. The doors will open at 5:30, and the screening will start promptly at 6pm. Thanks to Diana for making a flyer for this event. I will bring potential discussion questions for this movie for us to look at together at our next meeting.
